Donald Cassel
The Grind King

"The Japanese go to trade shows and they look for the companies they think are hot, or up and coming, and they'll approach you. And then once you hook up with one of these people, it's good to make sure that you service them by going to their country or doing promo stuff and catering to their needs. Kids all around the world look to the United States as sort of the model of what they would like to be."

Marina del Ray, California: In this segment of In the Trenches you meet Donald Cassel. You are as apt to find him skateboarding along the boardwalks Venice Beach as in his office. Although it will be obvious that he is enjoying himself, he is also doing a little product testing. He manufactures a special skateboard bolt for high flyers and performers. He also sells the clothing worn by 14 million skateboarders in the USA, yet half of his customers are in Europe and Japan.
